The UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences offers several summer programs designed to give youth and high school students the opportunity to explore and witness first-hand the academic experiences and potential careers obtained by CAES graduates.

Youth and high school students can engage in real laboratory settings, participate in hands-on activities with live animals, watch avian surgery, visit greenhouses, tour departments and facilities, and partake in other countless activities that give them the opportunities to meet other potential students, network with UGA faculty members and get a sense of what their UGA experience could be.

Yes. The application for VetCAMP opens up in December of each year. Applicants will be notified by email if they are accepted. Students interested in applying to the program must complete an online application, upload a video essay, and provide a copy of their high school transcript. In addition, our office must receive a teacher/counselor recommendation on behalf of the application.

The Young Scholars Program (YSP) is a paid six-week summer internship program for high school students interested in agricultural, food, and environmental sciences. Selected students work 30 hours per week actively engaged in research under the guidance of a faculty mentor on the UGA Athens, Griffin or Tifton campus. During the program, students attend workshops and visit agricultural operations to gain exposure to the various fields of study and careers in agriculture.

"The Young Scholars Program taught me many things in order to help to successfully adapt to college life. I was taught good work ethic and responsibility from having to work daily in an academic laboratory. I learned how to manage my time well because I learned how to balance work time with free time. Most importantly, I was able to learn insider tips from other students who knew how to be successful in college. The most important tip of all: study much more than you did in high school, and then study some more."

We seek ambitious and hardworking students to participate in our Summer Residency Programs. The response questions provide applicants with the opportunity to showcase their strengths and outline the contributions they can make to the program. Since applicants are not able to return to the form, we highly encourage thoughtfully completing the short answer questions prior to starting the online form.

To complete your application, you must submit a copy of your transcript and one letter of recommendation to the address below. The letter must be from your school counselor or teacher who knows you well and can discuss your conduct, your ability to work in a team environment, and why you are a strong candidate for our Summer Residency Programs. The transcript and recommendation letter requirements are waived for students that have already been admitted and plan to attend the University of Georgia in the fall.

The Dean Stuart Feldman Summer Science Institute is designed to provide an introduction and overview of the many career opportunities available in the pharmacy profession. The program exposes rising juniors and seniors in high school unique classroom and laboratory experiences including an early look at the components students should expect from a college experience.

Summer programs give your teenager the opportunity to learn and grow in ways that a traditional part-time job cannot. They go beyond the classroom and take students to visit local sites and hear directly from professionals, incorporate team building and personal reflection, and some even offer college credit.

Meet current students and faculty. One of our top recommendations for helping students get into their dream school is to connect with students who were successfully admitted to that school, and this may be one of the greatest advantages of attending a summer program at a school like UGA. By attending any of these programs, high school students can meet current students and can get the inside scoop about campus life and the college community.

Luckily, many summer programs are short, and the UGA programs are all a week-long, which allows students to balance other obligations, like volunteering or a part-time job, while participating in a summer program. By diversifying their activities, students will be able to impress college admissions officers with their developed passion and character.

Give your student the opportunity to earn certifications in Child Development Leadership & Service and Basic First Aid this summer! Students will explore the different aspects of early childhood development and observe infant, toddlers, and preschool age students in their classrooms to enhance their understanding.

Home to approximately six hundred students and a faculty of sixty-five, the Hodgson School offers a wide variety of degree programs from baccalaureate through doctoral levels, as well as many opportunities for all UGA students to participate in ensembles and academic classes. Each year the School hosts nearly 350 public performances.

The Morehead Honors College at the University of Georgia is campus-wide, serving students in all undergraduate majors and providing the benefits of a small liberal arts college nestled within a Research 1 university. Through early registration, small class sizes, a dedicated residence hall, internship programs, travel-study funding, research opportunities, service organizations, academic advising, professional development, faculty connections, external scholarship support, and alumni networks, Honors opens doors to the best the university has to offer.

High school youth from across the state apply and are selected to participate in this college campus experience program. Participants spend five days on campus at the University of Georgia where they receive important information on college preparation, learn about the college application process, develop leadership skills, and discover new opportunities.

The program is open to rising high school sophomores and juniors who are in foster care, wards of the state, or emancipated. A maximum of 25 students will be accepted into the program. Applicants will be notified on a rolling basis of acceptance into the program and must provide additional information upon acceptance.

Graduation with Honors is the basic distinction. Students with higher grade point averages (see the Grade Point Averages section below) may complete additional capstone coursework for a higher distinction.

In addition to the minimum course requirements listed above for graduation with Honors, if you have a higher GPA, you can earn High or Highest Honors distinction by completing one of the three capstone sequences of coursework below.

The HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships are available to qualifying Georgia residents who demonstrate academic achievement. The information provided here is only highlights of the Program Regulations, so please visit www.gafutures.org for complete information.

To meet residency requirements for the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships, you must be a resident of Georgia at the time of high school graduation. Students who are not Georgia residents when they graduate high school will not meet residency requirements for the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships until 24 months after they establish domicile in Georgia. If that date falls after the start of a semester, the student will not meet residency requirements for the scholarships until the following semester.

The UGA Office of Student Financial Aid will award your HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship based on the information on file at the time of awarding. If OSFA receives additional information such as new transcripts from other schools or grade changes at UGA that change your eligibility at any time you will be required to repay any HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship funds you were awarded that you are no longer eligible for.

Lacy forgets to send her Summer 2022 transcripts from another school to UGA and she finally does so after Spring 2023. OSFA is required to recalculate her GPA and adjust her HOPE award to what it should have been if her transcripts were received in a timely manner

University of Georgia Summer Music Camp is an intensive five-day musical experience that offers students a place to grow musically in a fun and exciting learning environment. Summer Music Campers attend academic classes that address important areas of musicianship. Campers also attend instrument-specific masterclasses under the direction of the acclaimed faculty of UGA's Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Band, orchestra, and chorus students rehearse and perform in the appropriate large ensembles, while piano students focus on performance practice and the standard literature of their instrument. In addition, Summer Music Campers have ample opportunity to socialize, develop relationships with other young musicians, and experience life on a great university campus. Concentrations include orchestra, band, chorus, piano, and jazz band. No audition is required for admission; high school students (rising 9th grade and up) will take part in placement auditions held on the first day of camp.

In collaboration with the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, the University of Georgia offers annual interactive summer camps for middle and high school students interested in engineering and STEM fields. 2ff7e9595c
